PetSmart associates installed a 10-gallon aquarium for the residents of Fort Bend Family Promise, as part of nationwide program called PetSmart Promise.
The collaboration between PetSmart and Family Promise is placing fish tanks in Family Promise facilities across the country.
"PetSmart's contributions will make a huge difference in the daily lives of homeless children," said Vera Johnson, executive director of Fort Bend Family Promise. "It is wonderful to see a major retailer joining our fight against family homelessness. The aquarium helps create a more homelike environment for our families."
Family Promise will be responsible for the maintenance of the fish tank, which will teach children staying at the facility lessons about pet ownership.
"As part of the program, our local PetSmart also provides boarding for the dogs or cats of families in our program until they get back into permanent housing. It is such a huge relief for the families that their pets are well cared for during this time. Thank you so much, PetSmart, for making a huge difference in the lives of these families," said Johnson.
