Staff Details

Amy Lansford moved to Fort Bend County in 2014 when her husband accepted a position at Rice University. She is a stay-at home Mom who spends the majority of her time doing "Mom chores" like shuttling kids, cooking, laundry, etc. She is fortunate enough to have time to volunteer. Currently, she serves on the Board at Family Promise, is the President of the Baines Middle School PTO and volunteers for various activities at her church. She works part-time from home for the admissions office at the Jones Graduate School of Business at Rice University.  She earned her B.A. from Catholic University and her M.A. from the University of Pittsburgh. Prior to having children, Amy worked for almost 15 years in various positions in international admissions and programs at three different universities.

What is your favorite part of volunteering?

My favorite part of volunteering is being an overnight host at our church. As an overnight host, you have the opportunity to meet and spend time with the families who are currently in the program.

Do you belong to a congregation or you an unaffiliated volunteer?

Our family attends Christ United Methodist Church in Sugar Land.

Do you have any kids or pets?

My husband, Ben and I have three children - Clayton (15), Andrew (14) and Caroline (12) and one not so fast, but very loyal dog named Speedy.

From looking at you, no one would guess that...

I am a big football fan. My favorite teams are the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Penn State Nittany Lions. My favorite thing to do in the fall is to watch a good football game.

Favorite place to eat:

Anywhere that I am with my family, especially when my immediate family is together with my parents, my siblings and their families...25 of us!

What would you tell people who are considering helping Fort Bend Family Promise?

The reward far exceeds your time and effort.
